In 1889 Peter Peterson, a 6 year old boy, was helping his father clear a field of stones and came across one much heavier for its size than the others. 75 years later (1965), Ellsworth Peterson, son of Peter, sat in his home in Lansing and read a story about a meteorite found near Kalkaska, requested the stone be sent to him and he brought it into the Abrams Planetarium.
